Identity Protection
Protect your identity - Security of personal information is our top priority
We actively work to detect and investigate any irregular activity in your accounts. Your credit union debit and credit cards contain only the minimum amount of information necessary to make a transaction. As soon as you enter your Personal Identity (PIN) number at an ATM or Point-of-Sale machine, it is automatically scrambled before it's sent on the network and the transaction begins.
If you lose your debit card or credit card, or you suspect someone has fraudulently created a duplicate card and is using it to take money from your account or run up your credit card, let us know immediately.
Internet Transactions
Are you secure?
To protect your financial and personal information while online, The Anishinabek Nation Credit Union's Internet transaction application uses a variety of security measures to maintain your privacy and security.
Don't be the weak link! Internet fraud is on the rise. Not only your home computer but any computer can be infected with "spyware" or viruses that attempt to collect your transactions. We always recommend the use of Firewall, Anti-Virus Programs and Anti-Spyware Programs on your system to secure your connection.
Scam Protection
Fraud. Recognize it. Report it. Stop it.
PHISHING: Definition
In computing, phishing is a criminal activity in which people attempt to fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. eBay and PayPal are examples of two frequently targeted companies, as well as online banks and credit unions. Phishing is typically carried out by email and often directs users to give details at a website, although phone contact has been used as well. Part of our job is to ensure that you are protected from this new form of electronic swindling.
How to protect yourself against Phishing?
1. Stop and take the time to check the email closely.
2. Look more closely at claims made in email.
3. Call Anishinabek Nation Credit Union to report any scams.
